Theme Park Project_ The Lit Spot

“The Lit spot” is the place to turn on your creativity lights. It is the combination of recycled aluminum coke cans that are transformed into a lit up lantern. In here, the guests will have a chance to participate in making their very own lantern with the aluminum cans that are already collected and quickly cleaned up or they can use their own coke cans. We want to bring the experience of transforming something ordinary to something useful and beautiful as well as the power of creativity and the important for the environment.

Hypertext Assessment


1.  What is your reaction to the game you just reviewed?
I played the Depression Quest game by Joe Quinn. The theme was strange to me at first because I have never played a “ depression game” before, but it is an interesting approach. The game has good intentions to create self-awareness situations but lack of motivation over all. The game leads players to different daily scenarios. It helps whomever suffers from depression to realize their problem and have the courage to reach out for help.

2. What connections did you make with the story that you read. Discuss the elements of the work with which you were able to connect.
Depression is a popular topic and has increased among the population over the years. By doing so, the players will be able to connect with the game better.
All the characters were given specific names, status and circumstances to connect with the players.
All the situations are daily scenarios which can happen to anyone. It's a complicated society that we are living in. There are so many things that we all have to deal with in  our daily lives, such as the relationship between people, a person with  his/her job, the expectations of society, family, love, money , etc.
There are some options in the game that  got crossed out and some are not in order to show how the depressed mind would choose to follow and by doing so, it helps the player be aware of their situations.
3. What changes would you make to adapt this story into another medium, what medium would you use, what changes would you make?

There are endless scenarios and too much to read without knowing the outcome or lack of progression. More appealing visuals with real character images ( image with higher resolution). Alternate the episode with some that have words and others with combined visuals. Since it's a psychological game, maybe adding soft music that is appropriate with the situations. I would like to see more end results or progress every couple chapters. There is no motivation to take the next step forward. Maybe a talk show could become a medium for this.

I chose the chapter “Little Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz”. During the reading, I found myself interested in remapping the house of the Sorcerer in the Glass City with a new approach. We enter the house with a Mexican style big arch door, high dome ceiling and earth tone painting on the wall. There are two big columns straight up to the top with vines wrapping around all the way to the top. There is no staircase but vines climbing from the ground to up the wall where a couple of portals connect the long hallways that lead to different chambers. Each chamber has a different function in the house, such as a rest room, study room and dining room. All the furniture are formed by vegetables since the Sorcerer is the vegetable human. The house is built facing the East where the sun rises. The sun beams enters through the chamber first, then the portal, and down to the main hall.
